Redz Tread
*SIGH* Dean's back...again.

Here we go again. Dean is back. Here is his latest bit of tomfoolery.

HELMETS… and statistics and speed.. if you ride at 120+ all the time wear a helmet…. No question about it Let me again try to get you to understand helmets vs choice from a different perspective, now that I see you ride at high speeds. I see on your site you ride at exceedingly high speeds on our public roads at 120mph+. As you said you passed an enforcement officer of some sort (DPS) and he did not go after you. Did your helmet in some way prevent you from being able to see a enforcement officer? There are some, including the law that consider this reckless driving…. almost all that do not ride that would think that is just plain stupid of you to ride at these speeds, I see how you see people riding fast and without a helmet and think they are stupid, well there are many who think you are,,,,,, and it would piss them off because of lack of knowing better.. I personally think it is fine because I know the statistics……… To me you should have the freedom to choose to do so as long as you are not harming others. Again statistically from the last time I looked at the data if any motorcyclists were in accidents in only 10 cases in one year did the opposing party die, in the entire USA. and my guess is was not the fault of the motorcyclist in the first place. Thus why put limits on motorcycles that get better gas mileage and do not kill or harm others. Do we have the right to fly in small planes, kitesurf, scuba dive, parasail, ride bicycles, have cell phones or cd’s in cars which are probably the highest risk recreations there are. This is the similar with no helmets, going at high speeds is a higher risk of dying as well as riding curves as well as riding off road have higher risks of accidents. But it needs to be the informed decision of the person riding. Riding is right away a higher risk than driving a SUV. I just read in your site that you posted one of my replies but not the last one to your letter that also was not posted. So I would like to make a comment, about the guys who know you that commented, and I posted it below that section for them and see it made it. So hopefully this one will be there and your helmet section, I do want that other one in the helmet section. They also did not understand my point, I only am not proud to say you are American because of your lack of respect publicly to Americans when that is what I thought is one of the honorable reasons people serve. The debate was to be between us like a conversation. Not public…. But because you took it public to a site and got into name calling right OFF the bat without my permission I am not proud to say you are American. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR ACTUAL SERVICE, for what you did as enlisted person I can only assume America owes you, our ground level servicemen have never failed us. But as far as your new claim you are in intelligence functions I am could not be more serious, the intelligence agencies with 20 BILLION a year failed us miserably and all involved in the part with terrorism and intelligence should be fired or severely demoted not promoted.. Again I listened to the FBI testimony and found it to be so incompetent technologically that it was pathetic. The higher ups say they could not have prevented it, well that is because they are technologically challenged to understand how technology and statistics could have without a doubt stopped it. NO QUESTION…. I have interviewed Engineers that worked in the areas of Defense contractors that designed the systems you may work with as well have had one that worked for me when I was VP of engineering. I can say they did make twice as much money as me back then (not now because you would throw in your jab if I didn’t mention), that was with me having 3 years of employment I was made VP of Engineering), I was VP of Engineering and my products did work. They were not worth a fraction of what they were being paid by defense contractors, at best they were good technicians. I can not call them Engineers after hiring one. Thus as I said in a different email to you, since you say you are now in intelligence you are a danger to our country because you exemplify why our intelligence agencies can not with 20 billion dollars use statistics to help us, as you imply over and over again statistics are worthless and as long as you are ignorant enough to believe that; you should save our country money and possibly another blunder get out of the intelligence because you just do not have the ability to figure things out. Please put your helmet on and go back to the Army where you seem to be proficient. We call it in the land of believing that college and education do have potential benefits, the Peter Principle, we promote perfectly effective people from their jobs to where they do not have the right skill set. And as you keep insulting people who do get educations and use statistics, that also includes scientific method including Doctors. Stop going to them or tell them to their faces that they are morons because you know more then they and do not believe in the scientific method because it uses statistics and anyone can manipulate statistics I think that sums up your life belief of statistics…. Remember there is debate in medicine about which treatment is more effective based on statistics all the time but they do not start off calling each other names. A person should also not be in inelegance agencies of our country that acts like a child name calling when a person disagrees in a private correspondence with them…. Please save our country get out of your new field intelligence…

My reply…

Ok Dean, you are about the most self-absorbed SOB I have ever met. No, I did not respond, nor post, some of the other e-mails you sent me. Why? Because, as I have repeatedly told you, this debate, argument, spat, or whatever you want to call it, is about HELMETS. I don’t want your fucking resume; don’t care about how much money you make, or what you think you know. You insist on spouting about how you are/were a VP in engineering which has little to nothing to do with this discussion. You tatter on about how you know the statistics but have yet to provide any numbers, data, or proof. What statistics? From where or whom? On what? What was the control element? What is it exactly you know? I haven’t seen it and you seem reluctant to provide it. Why?

Statistics can and are manipulated to serve the purpose of the party presenting them. You know this, I know this. Shut up already. I am aware that there are statistics that are quite valuable when doing certain types of research when the data collected is controlled and quantitative. When it comes to motorcycle fatalities, accidents, and the like, the numbers have been bent, swayed, and blurred in every direction to the point where the data is useless…those numbers I do not trust. Just for arguments sake, here is Webster’s definition of “statistics”

Main Entry: sta•tis•tics
Pronunciation: sta-'tis-tiks
Function: noun plural but singular or plural in construction
Etymology: German Statistik study of political facts and figures, from New Latin statisticus of politics, from Latin status state
1 : a branch of mathematics dealing with the collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of masses of numerical data
2 : a collection of quantitative data

See that little word up there, the one starting with the letter “I”? Interpretation!!! Interpretation!!! Someone can interpret the result of any data collected and pervert them the way their predisposition sees fit. If you are too stupid to realize this, go back to school.

Yes, I do ride my bike at excessive speed. However, I ride in very remote and damn near desolate areas of southern Arizona where there is little to no traffic. I also ride in full racing leathers, boots, gloves, and helmet. I do not ride at 120+ all the time. I do not weave in and out of traffic like some elaborate stitch pattern while in traffic or in town, wheelie in neighborhoods or on highways, or ride down Main Street at blinding speeds. I ride sport bikes the way they were designed to be ridden, fast. I do what I do in appropriate (yet still public) roads, away from the general public. I ride hard, not stupid. There is a very big difference. I understand that I am pushing my luck, with my life and my license, and I accept that risk. The risk I will not accept is riding without a helmet. I wear a helmet whether I am tearing around corners, going to work, or to see a friend. I wear a helmet every time I ride, in a non-helmet law state.

Here is why I will always wear a helmet. Even a 35 mph accident on a motorcycle has the potential to be deadly. I am not willing to leave my wife without a husband or my children without a father for the sake of your bullshit “Freedom of Choice” blabber. Check the Constitution you ignorant shit. There is no such amendment. You are able to operate your motor vehicle on public streets because the state you live in has granted you the privilege to do so. If you don’t like wearing a helmet because a law says you have to, don’t ride your bike. It’s as simple as that. If you are so infatuated with the tragic fashion statement of riding lidless, you have allowed your vanity to be placed ahead of your family. Sad. Are you are willing to leave them behind so that you can look cool, fight for some non-existent right, or something similarly stupid and asinine? Your ignorance and naivety know no bounds and you have seen too many Henry Fonda movies.

Oh, and I don’t give a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut what happens to car drivers/passengers in a motorcycle vs. car accident. They are relatively safe in their cages when it comes to a crash. What I am concerned about is inattentive automobile drivers talking on cell phones, fiddling with the radio, drinking piping hot coffee, and disciplining their children while simultaneously trying to navigate their 2-ton battle-rams. I keep an eye out for these people, because they are not keeping an eye out for me. I wear a helmet for my safety, not theirs.

You asked, “Thus why put limits on motorcycles that get better gas mileage and do not kill or harm others.” Well, if you don’t wear a helmet, it could harm or kill YOU. I have been hit in the face so many times riding down the highway (at the speed limit) by tire-flung rocks, bugs the size of golf balls (or so it seemed), swarms (as in a huge group) of Africanized bees (3 times), and other equally unpleasant airborne objects. Had I not been wearing my Shoei, I could have been knocked unconscious, or seriously dazed, either of which could have killed me.

No, the helmet did not impair my vision or ability to see the DPS officer in any way. What did obscure my vision was the hill he was sitting on the other side of, you pompous, pretentious ass.

“Do we have the right to fly in small planes, kite surf, scuba dive, parasail, ride bicycles, have cell phones or CD’s in cars which are probably the highest risk recreations there are.” Yes and no. The word “Right” is immeasurably overused in this society, and even more misunderstood. You do not necessarily have the “right” to fly any aircraft. That, again, is a privilege. You have all the right in the world to get your aviator’s license. Once you do, you must follow an extensive list of laws and guidelines set by the FAA and other organizations that dictate how, when, and where you fly, at least to some degree. If you don’t follow the rules, you don’t fly. As far as the other activities you listed, most of these are not performed on public streets, nor require a license to operate, so their relevance is limited. On second thought, maybe not. Last time I checked, skydivers wear helmets. I’d wager that 99% of skydivers do and there isn’t a single law that says they have to do so, as far as I know anyway. They just use this little thing called common sense, a trait you do not possess.

About your so-called “different perspective”, you have not done anything different in this posting than you have in any of the many others you have sent my way. All you have proven to me is that you do not have the cognitive ability to remember what you have read, previously posted, or recall what I have said in the past. Your apparent lack of attention to detail makes me seriously doubt any skills you claim to have, especially something as intricate and detailed as engineering.

Now let’s talk about how I express myself. Better yet, I’ll talk. You just sit down, shut up, and listen. If I have hurt your feelings or broken your little code of ethics, I don’t care. I express my opinions and pull no punches when doing so. I post whatever I care to post. My site, my rules. You don’t like it? Tough shit. Cry me a fucking river.

Since I’m on the subject, I’m going to go back to the issue of me not posting or responding to some of your other moronic e-mails. But just for fun, and to educate everone else, click here to see the other emails. Here are the rules, for everybody to see, so pay attention. Unless you have facts, statistics, or events about helmets, their use, effectiveness, or their laws, do not send me any more e-mails or post to my guestbook. As I previously said, I don’t want your resume, your work history, or your unfounded, naïve press oriented claims about our Intelligence system. When you make a valid argument, I’ll do my best to squash it.

You also claimed that I was unwilling to post my name on my site. Did you actually read my post? It would appear that you didn’t. My name is on this sight, for the entire world to see. You were just too short sighted or to stupid to check it out before you made your post. You called me a rude jerk. Why, yes I am. This is my site and I can be as rude, crude, and socially unacceptable as I care to be. I pay the fees to publish here. You don’t like it, take a hike. What’s really pathetic is your fear of your own opinions. You asked me to remove or abbreviate your name from your own posts because you didn’t want the people you will be working with to find it. What a coward. I’m not afraid of my opinions. Hell, I’m proud of them. I’ve shown this site to my coworkers, supervisor, commanding officer, parents, and anyone else I can get to read it. You bash on me for hiding behind a nickname, and then request your identity be shrouded. Who’s the hypocrite now?

Now this is where I really get pissed. Do not ever criticize my service in the Army, in any shape, form, or fashion. What I do at work and what I post on this site have absolutely no relation to one another. This is not my job. It’s a pastime, a hobby if you will. You, on the other hand, have never worn a military uniform and never will. To clarify my job, I am at the U.S. Army unit level of intelligence. I don’t work for or with the FBI/CIA. My responsibilities are on battlefield analysis, situational awareness, troop movement, and enemy locations during a time of war. You have not one fucking clue as to the job my coworkers and I do every day. You talk on and on about the critical failures of our intelligence system. I won’t deny that it has its flaws. But unless you have ever worked with it first hand or have some really effective suggestions on how to fix it…SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! Unless you have the proper security clearance to go deep enough to see the system I work with every day, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! Furthermore, the forces we are up against today are not the same manifested and doctrinal forces we dealt with just 10 to 20 years ago. They work deep underground with no atypical doctrine to help determine preventive courses of action. But then, you don’t deal with that, now do you? We have to be ever vigilant to keep assholes like you safe everyday. It is an arduous job and, with the exception of you, well worth the effort. We have to work hard everyday to stop terrorist’s activities by using incomplete information and sketchy sources. Then we have to piece all of it together to get the clearest picture possible; they only have to get lucky once. Ever thought of that? Do you ever think?

In closing, you seem really predisposed with pissing me off. Keep it coming butt-nugget, and I’ll continue to put you in your place. Nothing enrages me more than your stupidity, delusions of grandeur, and arrogance. Get a clue. Your attempt to debunk my theories and opinions are frail at best. You keep reaching, but there’s nothing there. Aren’t you tired of being wrong yet? Aren’t you tired of looking stupid yet? Please save our country and throw away your keyboard.
